  • Optimal group size 8-12 (4 – 6 wheelchairs + companions)
  • Accessible bathrooms with roll in shower preferred. When not available, then accessible bathtub (with grab bar and lower shower head) with transfer bench
  • Lighter daily schedule of visits. More time to relax and enjoy.
  • Come back early at the end of the day’s visits to allow for rest and relaxation
  • Quality over quantity. Choose and prioritize activities carefully knowing that it is impossible to see everything
  • During the walking tours and neighborhood visits in Lisbon, we have mapped out routes very carefully to minimize hardship on wheelchair-users
  • Minimize the amount of travel time in the vehicles
  • On the road and on-site visits, plan accessible bathroom stops carefully and precisely
  • Meals in welcoming and accessible venues that also reflect the “local scene” and the character of the place.
  • Travel with necessary accessibility equipment (ramps of different length)
  • At least one or two opportunities for nature experience (accessible hiking in nature)
  • More opportunities for contacts and interaction with locals, and a better sense of the “local scene” (markets, street performances, etc.)
  • Have a knowledgeable guide with the group and/or specific guides at selected venues (castles, monasteries, etc.)
